Ambassador M. Levent Bilgen has assumed his post in Kyiv in October 2023. Prior to his appointment to Ukraine, Mr. Bilgen served concurrently as Ambassador in Abu Dhabi, UAE and the Permanent Representative to the International Renewable Energy Agency/IRENA as well as the Steering Board Member International Center of Excellence for Countering Violent Extremism/HEDAYAH (2014-2016). Previously, he held posts as Consul General in New York (2011-2014) and as the founding Consul General in Toronto (2009-2011). Throughout his diplomatic career, he had missions in various capacities at the Turkish Missions to the International Civil Aviation Organization in Montreal (2009) and the United Nations Headquarters in New York (2003-2007), as well as in the capitals such as Beijing, Tel Aviv, and Ottawa.
During his tenure in Ankara, Mr. Bilgen held positions of senior advisory and coordinator roles at numerous governmental institutions and international diplomatic events, including the Third Türkiye-Africa Partnership Summit, the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, the Ministry of National Defense, and the National Security Council. Early in his career, he worked at the Directorates General for Policy Planning and Overseas Promotion of Türkiye at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Bilgen holds a B.S. in Business Management and a M.A. in International Transactions from George Mason University, Fairfax/VA, USA. He has two children.
